We are delighted to welcome you to our 7th annual Australian Hedge Fund Forum
2009.
It's being held on:
Wednesday 2 September
Sydney
The Forum will offer the most comprehensive review yet of the Hedge Fund
industry in Australia, and has been designed to provide Institutional and Retail
Investors with a detailed and insightful update on the major issues that are
affecting the industry as well as educate them on the latest managers,
investment strategies, risks management practices, and portfolio construction
and due diligence processes.
Learn at the event:
- How the industry has evolved in last 12 months - and where it is going now
- Why hedge funds haven't been doing better in a bear market
- How hedge funds can start to perform better
- How the credit crunch has affected the appointment of prime brokers
- Opportunities for product manufacturers in Australia
- How hedge funds can better manage investor expectations
- The issues you need to be aware of when investing in hedge funds, and how to
manage the risks associated with investing in hedge funds
- The implications of IOSCO's final report on hedge funds for Australian
managers
- What strategies offer the best opportunities currently
- Fund of funds versus single strategy - which way to participate
- How much of a long-term portfolio should be in hedge funds (and where it
should come from)
- Whether in a low-return, high-cash rate environment, the fee structure of
hedge funds is flawed
- If investing (and gearing) into structured hedge fund products make sense
- Which sectors should you avoid
- The biggest risks facing the Australian hedge funds industry in the next 6 to
12 months
Institutional and Retail Investors will have the opportunity to discuss their
experiences of investing in Hedge Funds and Fund-of-Funds, and provide feedback
to the industry on how it can continue to improve and attract Investor
allocations.
The event is broken up into two segments: Session A and Session B. Session A
will provide retail and institutional investors with an interesting and
practical overview of the industry and its development. This session is packed
with content, presentations, panel discussions and case studies to help
de-mystify these products and assess the relevance and benefits of each type of
investment strategy.
Session B is being designed for investors such as superannuation funds,
asset consultants and others - to debate and discuss the key challenges and
opportunities ahead in the hedge fund space. A series of interactive and
technical workshops and case studies will be targeted at more sophisticated
Investors.
We hope that this Forum will make a positive contribution to the development of
the Hedge Fund industry in Australia and that you find the day both interesting
and educational.
We look forward to welcoming you.
